Amazon Super Bowl ad stars Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost — and Alexa as a mind reader

It would look like Amazon’s Alexa is studying your mind when she mechanically orders extra bathroom paper or activates the lights at a particular time. However a new Super Bowl ad reveals why it won’t be a good thought to have the AI transcend simply voice help.

Actual life couple Scarlett Johansson (“Black Widow”) and Colin Jost (“Saturday Evening Dwell”) star within the 90-second spot, launched Monday within the commercial-heavy run-up to Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI.

After commanding Alexa through Echo good speaker to prep the home the morning of a sport — she streams soccer on Prime Video, closes the blinds and chills some rosé — Jost and Johansson are struck by the way it appears Alexa “can learn your mind.”

The ad proceeds to look at the pitfalls of what the couple’s interactions can be like if Alexa was certainly a mind reader. Amazon even works in a plug for Complete Meals, the grocery chain it owns.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy tweeted that the ad was one of the tech big’s commercials for Sunday’s sport, so keep tuned for updates on what else Amazon has in retailer.

The Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals airs Sunday at 3:30 p.m. PT on Fox.
